Laura qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 2009 where she practiced civil court work, appearing regularly in the Sheriff Court. In 2011 she obtained an LLM in Human Rights Law from the University of Strathclyde.
Laura passed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme exams in November 2016 and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2017. As such she is now dual-qualified.
Laura joined Ridouts in January 2016 from the Fitness to Practise department of the General Dental Council. There she gained a wealth of experience in professional disciplinary cases at both the Investigating Committee and Practise Committee stage.
Since joining Ridouts Laura has become experienced at drafting effective responses to CQC draft inspection reports and enforcement notices. Laura remains keenly interested in hearings and advocacy and is experienced in supporting Providers at Coroners Inquests and with appeals to the First-tier Tribunal (Care Standards).
Laura is a member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers and the Scottish Society of Lawyers in London.
Outside of work Laura enjoys keeping fit, playing social netball and going to the theatre.
