Paul qualified as a solicitor in April 1972 and has been in continuous private practice since that time.
In April 1972 Paul had just completed the purchase of a Nursing Home in Earl’s Court, West London. The purchaser ran into regulatory difficulties which Paul resolved under the old Public Health Act 1936.
Throughout his career Paul has been actively and constantly instructed in matters relating to the operation, regulation and funding of care service businesses. Paul has worked through the whole of the last 40 years of changes and developments in what is now the health and social care sector. Paul has a unique knowledge from previous experience of how regulation has changed and how public funding of health and social care has been refined over those 40 years.
In March 1973 Paul set up his first private law firm based in Marylebone and Dorking in South West Surrey. In November 1991 Paul moved as a partner to Nabarro Nathanson (now Nabarro) in London’s Mayfair and in 1997 moved on to what is now DLA Piper leaving in September 2006 once again to set up his own Law Practice in Marylebone.
Ridouts was launched in January 2007 and is now an established mature practice with 4 Partners. Paul writes extensively for all the leading Health and Social Care Journals, is an expert in care home law and has been author and editor of leading practice Handbooks on the regulation of care both published by Jordan’s (Registered Homes and Care Standards).
Paul is regarded as one of the most experienced advisers for the Health and Social Care sector.
