Updates to the “Coronavirus (COVID-19): changes to the Care Act 2014” guidance

The Department of Health and Social Care guidance “Coronavirus (COVID-19): changes to the Care Act 2014” was first published on 31 March 2020 and has now been updated. A copy can be accessed here.

From 20 May 2020, the changes made to the guidance reflects the fact that local MPs have been added to the list of people to whom the amendments should be communicated and the decision to exercise the Care Act 2014 easements. Section 6 of the guidance states, This decision should be communicated to all providers, service users, carers and local MPs. The accessibility of communication to service users and carers should be considered”

Information on how to find out which local authorities are operating under the amendments has also been added to section 6. Section 6, provides this link to CQC’s website.

It is stated on CQC’s website (which was updated on 21 May 2020) that there are five local authorities in England that are currently using the easements:
