Today CQC have confirmed that their ‘State of Care’ 2017/18 is due to be published shortly. For those that do not know the State of Care is CQC’s annual assessment of health and social care in England. In CQC’s words ‘the report looks at the trends, highlights examples of good and outstanding care, and identifies factors that maintain high-quality care’.

It should come as no surprise that the complexity of demand for healthcare and adult social care services in England are continually on the rise. The country has an ageing population and with that comes a demand for more care for people with complex, chronic or multiple conditions.

The upcoming ‘State of Care’ has a lot to address. But will it really acknowledge the fundamental and real challenges affecting our health and social care system? We will find out soon enough.
