CQC launch investigation into how it handled a report raising concerns about Whorlton Hall

Topics covered: Ridouts professional advice

CQC have launched an investigation into how they handled a report from 2015 which raised concerns about Whorlton Hall hospital. They have commissioned David Noble QSO to undertake the independent review.

CQC will be reviewing, in particular, the concerns raised in the draft report prepared in 2015 and how they addressed these through the CQC’s internal processes.

A wider review has also been commissioned of CQC’s regulation of Whorlton Hall between 2015 and 2019. This will “include recommendations for how its regulation of similar services can be improved, in the context of a raised level of risk of abuse and harm”.

Further information on this will be published in due course.
