CQC launches a series of resources that shares its learning from enforcement activity

Topics covered: Ridouts professional advice

CQC have launched a series of resources that, they say, share learning from their enforcement activity. Since April 2015 CQC have had the power to bring criminal prosecution against health and social care providers for failing to provide care in a safe way. CQC say that they’ve seen patterns emerging within the nine providers (since April 2015) that they’ve prosecuted.

One of the first five resources is called ‘Learning from safety incidents’ and it focuses on the safety incidents that are related to the nine prosecutions, stated above. The resource explains what happened, what CQC and the provider have done to overcome it, and the steps providers can take to avoid it happening in their service.
