CQC uses powers to close dental clinic

Topics covered: Ridouts professional advice

For the first time, CQC has taken action against a dental practice by using their legal powers to cancel its registration for failing to comply with the essential standards of quality and safety.

The reasoning behind this decision was because CQC had three major concerns in relation to the care and welfare of people, cleanliness and infection control and records.  There was also a moderate concern with regards to respecting and involving people who use services.

CQC served a Notice of Decision on 2 April 2012 to remove the dental clinic from the provider’s conditions of registration.
