Excellence award officially scrapped

The government has confirmed its plans to abandon the excellence scheme proposed by CQC. Paul Burstow made the announcement after the sector largely rejected the idea through a public consultation.

CQC have said that whilst the award will not be proceeding, they are keen to make sure that the feedback received during the consultation exercise iwill be taken forwards. CQC have indicated that they are in discussions with the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) about how to use the information received during the consultation.
