Public Health England guidance “COVID-19 How to work safely in care homes” and “COVID19 How to work safely in domiciliary care in England” was first published on 17 and 27 April 2020 respectively and has now been updated.

“COVID-19 How to work safely in care homes” guidance has been renamed COVID-19 Personal protective equipment (PPE) – resource for care workers working in care homes during sustained COVID-19 transmission in England. This guidance along with COVID-19 Personal protective equipment (PPE) – resources for care workers delivering homecare (domiciliary care) in England have been updated with further recommendations including specification of surgical mask types defined in consultation with HSE and MHRA.

In both guidance documents Section 2, which provides frequently asked questions and explanation regarding recommendations, has been updated with additional questions and further explanations/minor changes made to existing responses to questions. Most notably Section 3 has been added to both guidance documents which contains specialist advice relating to care for people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
