Recent analysis finds one in every five care homes not good enough

A recent analysis undertaken by the BBC has found that one in five care homes in England is rated as not good enough. Nearly 3,000 of England’s 14,975 care homes are currently rated as either inadequate or requiring improvement.

The Chief Executive of the National Care Associate, Nadra Ahmed, has said that the variations in the number of struggling homes within regions is a reflections of both the inconsistency in the CQC inspection regime and the greater difficulties some regions have in recruiting staff. Nadra Ahmed said “A poor CQC report can have a fundamental impact on a provider’s ability to recruit, whether staff or for people living in service.”
