Julie King

Julie is a regulatory consultant with over 25 years’ experience of operational service delivery and strategic level executive management in the health and social care sector. Julie’s professional profile includes her early career as a nurse and NHS Team Leader delivering front line general medical services in a busy London hospital setting, and 10 years as a regional inspector and national quality manager with the statutory regulator (NCSC, CSCI and CQC). She remains a registered nurse. During her time as a regulator, Julie was a regional safeguarding lead for the North West of England and played a key role in the development of a national service for the review of care provider appeals to quality ratings. Between 2012 and 2014, Julie worked in an independent healthcare setting as the Senior Compliance & Regulation Manager for a specialist provider delivering brain injury and mental health services across the UK.

Since 2014, she has been an independent regulatory consultant supporting a wide variety of NHS Trust Boards with their CQC compliance agendas and is much in demand as a strategic level programme director and executive coach. Julie has an excellent track record of delivering positive CQC quality rating outcomes for healthcare clients and works collaboratively to ensure not only compliance but real improvements to care quality. Julie has secured five consecutive ‘Good’ ratings for NHS clients and these have established her as the leading expert in the field. Her clients have included Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital (maternity, women’s health and neonatal), Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, Mersey Care NHS Trust (mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse, high secure, inpatient and community), Whittington Health NHS Trust (acute and community services including CAMHS and primary care), and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust (acute teaching hospitals). Julie has a highly professional approach to client needs and ability to work in both strategic and operational settings.
