Land Developer Gives First Refusal Rights to Care Providers

Topics covered: adult social care, bed shortage, social care reform

With a bed shortage in the health and social care sector, Flinton Blythe Land Agency has come up with a unique solution to creating more beds – giving care providers first dibs on sites that could be suitable for use as care or nursing homes.

This comes after Flinton Blythe found out that there was only one bed available for every 10 people who require specialist care in a nursing home.

Jake Barnes, director of Flinton Blythe, took this decision after experiencing first have the struggles his mother faced when trying to get his grandfather admitted to a specialist nursing home.

This programme will give care homes a unique advantage over other commercial buyers, who may have outbid them in the past.

Further, as local authorities have eased regulations on care home builds, more sites should become eligible for care home builds.
